Real Estate agents are nice people! We have empathy and genuinely want to help our clients especially in troubled times.
It is so easy to fall into the trap of taking the ‘vendor position’ and connecting to deeply with their circumstances or story. What happens then is a lack of objectivity and you can resist the critical conversations that may need to be had. You are employed to find the ‘market position’ for your clients. Is it time to take stock of how this could be blocking you?

Here is another Coaching on the Go Moment from real estate coach Caroline Bolderston.

Today I’m talking about clearing stock and some of the blockages that are coming up with agents in my coaching sessions.

It can be so easy to get completely involved in the vendor position vs. being involved in the market position.

What I mean by this is, it’s not a bad time right now, to quickly skim your stock list. Take a look at what is motivating you in order to get your client the result they are after.

Critical Conversations

Are you too attached to their circumstances? I’m not saying not to have empathy, nor understand their position.

If however, you are protecting their story or vendor position, then my concern is that it’s blocking you from having the critical conversations. These are necessary in order for them to see the opportunity that might be there right now.

It’s time to flip and really look at the market position here. You are in a position to help them move into that space so that you can bring them offers and get some decisions made.

Focus on the market position

It’s just a quick update for you on that thinking. Make sure that you are not deep in the vendor position, deep in the story, holding on to tight to their personal circumstances. They are paying you to translate the market. To bring them the market position and focus on the market position.

Scan your stock list, see where you might be falling into the trap. Clear that blockage right now and see what you can do in order to get things cleared.

Thanks so much and I’ll see you next time.
